The situation in 2000
Poul Nyrup Rasmussen's Denmark is in the European Union with four opt-outs - the euro, defence, justice and citizenship - and outside the Defence Union. Greenland and the Faroes have their own ideas, and the Danish People's Party is learning what its votes are worth.

The focus tree
Denmark's own tree has 187 focuses. It opens with Kalaallit Nunaat, The Faroe Islands, The Danish Economy, The Danish Defence, Denmark in the World, Nyrup's Denmark and more. By kind: historical (125), political (101), industry (48), army xp (38). Taking every focus, one after another, would take about 28 years - the roads are exclusive, so a playthrough sees only part of it.
Drag to pan, Ctrl + scroll to zoom, click a focus for its description and rewards. Focus names in the guides below jump to it.

Path guides
How to reach each of Denmark's roads. The same guides are in game, as free decisions in the Denmark Path Guide category.
The Opt-Outs and the Price
How Denmark's tree works:
Denmark keeps four opt-outs from the Union - the euro, defence, justice and citizenship - and each can be put to a referendum in the column. A minority government that rules with the People's Party's votes pays for them in immigration law: the Price (0-100, the Opt-Outs and the Price decisions) rises with every payment.
The Price is a spirit: stability at home, opinion abroad.
The Staircase
How Denmark's politics go:
The three roads open at different depths of the column, in the order they become possible: Venstre (Fogh Rasmussen; historical) at the Election of 2001, the Defence Union road (Thorning-Schmidt) once the defence opt-out has fallen, and the People's Party (Kjaersgaard) once its price reaches 70. Taking one closes the others.
Greenland and the Faroes are branches of their own. Elections are called by focus, never by the calendar.
Something Hidden
Some roads grow out of the old Denmark:
One from Venstre's activist foreign policy, by way of the Queen; one from the Danish Model. Each replaces the government. Only one can open; the AI never takes one when historical focuses are on.
Mechanics
How Denmark's own systems work. In game: the Denmark: Mechanic Guide decisions.
The Opt-Outs and the Price
Denmark keeps four opt-outs from the Union - the euro, defence, justice and citizenship - and each can be put to a referendum in the column. The defence opt-out falling opens the Defence Union road.
The Price (0-100, starts 10), shown in the category's name: a minority government that rules with the Danish People's Party's votes pays for them in immigration law, and every payment raises it.
As a spirit the Price gives stability at home and costs opinion abroad. At 70 the People's Party can govern itself.
